Yuthan Balaji started his career playing a school student in popular mega soap Kanaa Kaanum Kaalam and shifted to the big screen with Pattalam. Later he became an independent hero with Kadhal Solla Vandhen. Then he did movies like Nagarvalam and Meiyyazhagi. With a few films where he plays chocolate boy role in his kitty, Balaji has now opted for a high action web series and taken the avatar of a gangster.
Bollywood actors, keen to explore digital platforms, are willing to be a part of a web series. The trend has also caught up in K’town. Despite being busy in films, Bobby Simha, Parvathy Nair and Gayathri have come together for a web series in a gangster thriller titled Vella Raja on Netflix. Talking about his role in VR, Balaji says, “I play the right hand of Bobby Simha, who is a cut-throat gangster in VR. It is a meaty role and when Guhan Senniyappan narrated the story, I loved it.
There’s not much difference between making films and web series. The same amount of work goes into its making. In fact, the makers have produced VR at a high cost.”
