Kannada film festival to be held in Chennai
In an attempt to promote the reviving Kannada film industry, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and Kannada Film Chamber Of commerce, in collaboration with South Indian Film Chamber Of Commerce, is organising a three-day Kannada Film Festival in Chennai from July 28.
14 films from the state, including critically-acclaimed movies like RangiTaranga, U-Turn and National Award winning film Thithi, will be screened at the fest.
Kannada film director SV Rajendrasingh Babu, Chairman of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy says, “Marketing is a very important thing now. And with the help of the latest technologies, we can promote Kannada films across the nation, which was not possible back in the past due to printing cost.”
Talking about the other possibilities of promoting Kannada cinema, Babu adds, “Tamil and Kannada film industries can collaborate and produce films together which will benefit both industries and might serve as the bridge to both the states.”
The initiative is the first of its kind and the organisers are contemplating to make it an yearly event.
