Somu the new villain on the block
After winning awards and acting in short films like the Naalaya Iyakkunar series, the techie-turned-actor Somu impressed everyone with his natural performance in the recently released horror anthology 6 Athiyayam.
“I have done 15 short films so far. After watching one of them, I got a call from Sridhar Venkatesan who directed Chitthiram Kolluthadi, the sixth episode of 6 Athiyayam. It got wide appreciation and I got an identity as an actor after the film's release,”, Somu tells DC.
Talking about his upcoming film Munthiri Kaadu in Kalanjium's direction, he said, “It was a mind-blowing experience playing the main baddie in MK. Kalanjium sir trained me well by giving a workshop and changed my looks completely. I am sporting a rugged look for my role. The movie is complete and after watching it Seeman sir called and praised my acting”.
Somu is also proud of being part of national award winners Vettri Maaran-Dhanush trilogy film Vada Chennai. “It is a small yet significant role. I am confident people would love my character in VC.” He says that his aim to earn a place for himself as a performing villain in Tamil cinema. Somu has two more films in his kitty.
