Kollywood wants a great IPL finale
Though namma ooru fans and celebrities are disappointed that Chennai Super Kings was not able to feature in IPL for the second season in a row, the city is still abuzz with IPL fever and cricket fans are eagerly looking forward to the IPL finals today.
Most have no second thoughts about supporting Rising Pune Supergiant mainly because of M.S. Dhoni, while a few are rooting for Mumbai Indians to win the tournament for the record third time. We speak to a couple of K’town celebrities, as they open up about their favourite team and players who have impressed them in the 10th edition of the T20 extravaganza.
Actor Vikranth, a hardcore fan of CSK and Mahi, is sure who he wants to see on top. “It’s a no brainer — I want RPS to win it, only because of Dhoni, my favourite cricketer. Though I was not happy with the way Steve Smith was given over the captaincy, I still want RPS to win the tournament because of Dhoni,” he affirms.
Speaking about the players who impressed him a lot, the Gethu actor says, “Though he might not have made headlines, Manoj Tiwary has chipped in with good performances throughout the season. Apart from that, left arm pacer, Jaydev Unadkat, made match-winning contributions.” But Vikranth is also wary of the threat MI possesses — “Pandya brothers (Hardik and Krunal) are very dangerous and so are Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma.”
On the other hand, Parvatii Nair, who will be watching the finals at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, wants Mumbai Indians to win the tournament.
“I’ve not followed this season as religiously —it’s mainly because of the absence of CSK. But I would want MI to win it because I am more familiar with the team and the players and I’ve always had a soft corner for them! I’m excited to watch the match live tomorrow!”
