Appu Kutty reveals he’s a farmer in real life
Looks like Vasundhra Kahyap, who started her career with biggies like Vijay Sethupathi and Jayam Ravi, has resolved to accept content oriented flicks in her second innings rather than wait for big hero subjects. The latest one she has accepted is a film Vazhga Vivasayi, where national award winner Appu Kutty is the lead hero. Ponnimohan directs the film.
Speaking about as to why he accepted the film, Appu Kutty revealed, Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai gave me critical acclaim besides an award. I wanted to act in films, with a good story and when Vazhga Vivasayi came my way, I felt this a very important film and issue to be addressed. I gladly accepted. Yet another reason for me to sign on the dotted line was that I belong to a farmer’s family and I myself am a farmer. I know farming practices of preparing the soil, sowing the seed, adding manure, irrigation etc. It was easy for me to essay the role.”
He adds, “I was apprehensive about my heroine as to who would accept the role of a mother to two kids. Since I am short, my first concern was that the lead lady should match my height. When they said it was Vasundhra, I was taken aback. She is quite tall and much fairer than me. But, once she was on board, she has cleared all my misgivings. She is a dedicated artiste and was very natural performer.”
The actor also added that though there are numerous movies speaking about agriculture, this will be different and won’t be preachy. “I hope Vazhga Vivasayi will also flourish my life (lau ghs).”
