Staying true to his passion music
Sam D Raj, the music composer of upcoming films like A-maali, Swathi Kolai Vazhaku, and Thirupathisamy Kudumbam, has a rich and varied experience in the area of music. Talking to DC, the musician shares his journey in the field.
“I was in Dubai working for a renowned seaside hotel as pianist, and later I moved on to start my own studio and had a jazz band as well,” he starts the conversation.
He has also made many independent music albums which are popular in countries like Japan, China and Bhutan. “These albums sell well in these countries than in India. And I am also coming with two other albums and all set for another world tour with an orchestra,” he adds.
Talking about his tryst with K’town and the film A-maali, directed by VZ Dhorai, he says, “Dhorai and I have worked together in many commercials. So, we hit if off pretty well with the film.”
Sam is also in touch with Netflix, which is allegedly planning to make projects for South Indian audience. “They are planning to come up with some web series and I have been consulting with them about the industry. I have been also helping directors and producers to get in touch with Netflix since people are not well aware of how to go about pitching the ideas.” Sam is currently awaiting the release of A-maali and will proceed signing other films after its release.
