All hail! Gangsta Kabali

Tamil cinema will explode across our mega screens in his newest avatar, in over 300 theatres at 4 am on Friday morning.

BENGALURU: Rajinikanth’s Kabali has arrived! The former Bengalurean who shot to superstardom in Tamil cinema will explode across our mega screens in his newest avatar, in over 300 theatres at 4 am on Friday morning.

Amid some reports that almost 30 minutes of the much-awaited movie could have been leaked online as part of a review, and everyone from excited grandmothers to bored babus are taking the day off - officially - to feast their eyes on Rajini's latest escapades and savour old tricks like flipping his cigarettes and his dhoti - all roads, for the next week at least, lead to the cinema!

The city may be facing a wet spell, but it has no way dampened the build up of frenzy for the eagerly awaited Rajinikanth starrer Kabali, which is to hit the theatres Friday morning.

Following huge demand for the special shows, the distributors of the film, have made special arrangements for screening of shows, as early as four o'clock in the morning in at least 15 to 20 theatres across the city.

“I have been receiving endless calls since morning including from the elite section, for tickets. It is simply crazy. I remember when we released the audio of film Dalapathi, it was sold like hot cakes with a record sale of 6 lakh audio cassettes in a single day, and we had to seek police protection to transport hard cash. Kabali is already showing signs of breaking every record of the super star's films in the past," said Lahari Velu, a distributor.

The fans have left no stone unturned to celebrate the release. “The atmosphere is simply unimaginable. The 'Urvashi' theatre has literally been turned into fortress with Kabali posters everywhere. We have obtained permissions for screening early morning shows across Bengaluru for the fans. As of now 15 to 20 will start screening the film as early as 4 am, and the tickets for the next one three to four days are completely sold out,” said another distributor Gautham of Sri Gokul Films.

However, he said that apart from Bengaluru there will be no early morning shows in other towns. "Everyone who has called me so far wants a ticket for Kabali show. In fact, the Jindal factory had requested all four shows exclusively for its employees," Velu said.

Despite the superstar himself pleading his die-hard fans, not to waste milk by pouring it on the posters, many have already made arrangements for the milk bath. Apart from the bursting of crackers, milk, sweets and grand pooja, some of the fans’ association would also organise blood donation camps. Though first few scenes of Kabali have been leaked in the social media on Thursday, it has no way reduced the excitement.
