Charles opens up on the making of Lock Up
The film Lock Up bankrolled by actor Nitin Satya was in the news recently, after ace Venkat Prabhu came on board as an antagonist opposite Vaibhav Reddy.
Charles, who was tutored by Mohan Raja and Arivazhagan turns independent with Lock Up. He talks to DC about the film.
“I would call the film a drama thriller. I have attempted a novel screenplay. The story is narrated from the point of view of three different characters,” Charles said.
Vaibhav plays a low-ranking cop and Venkat Prabhu essays his superior. “Venkat Prabhu Sir and Vaibhav are close friends in real life and they hang out together with their gang, which includes the likes of Premji, Jai, Nitin, Shiva, etc. Imagine my plight when VP and Vaibhav came together on screen as opposite poles.
Each time there was a serious combo sequence to be shot, they would burst into laughter. They would take at least 12 to 15 takes for the shot to get okayed. It was tough and challenging,” he reminiscences.
Though VP was initially hesitant to accept the villain’s role, later, he was game for it, he adds.
Vani Bhojan will be seen in a role with different shades. The movie will premiere on the digital platform Zee 5 on August 14.
