Diary is the title of Arulnithi’s new film
Arulnithi is one actor who prefers unconventional scripts. His upcoming flick with debut director Innasi Pandian, where he essays an intelligent cop, is no different.
National Award winner Vetri Maaran unveiled the movie’s title – Diary – on 21 July, which also marks the actor’s birthday.
Pavithrah, a model from Singapore, debuts as the female lead. Innasi, a former assistant to Ajay Gnanamuthu, speaks to DC and reveals more on the film.
“After completing the script, I was looking out for someone young and charming to play the lead hero. Arulnithi was the first person who came to my mind. Half-way through the narration, Arulnithi sensed the quirkiness in it and gave his nod,” he said
“Diary is an investigative thriller, which turns emotional towards the end. As the story is set in a hill station we shot mostly in Ooty. Taking inspiration from a few real-life incidents, I have added a fictionalised account,” he added.
Ask him if Diary has a message to convey, and the director is quick to respond – “Oh no, like my mentor Ajay, I just view the film as a pure entertainer. I am not here to preach.”
'Kishore, Jayaprakash and Shara are among the supporting cast. Bankrolled by Kathiresan, the team completed the shoot before the lockdown, and is proceeding with post-production work.
