Ananya Raj to debut in Tamil
Having been part of films like 7 hours to go, City of Dreams, Ghost, etc., Ananya Raj made her Tollywood debut with Thaggedhe Le last year. And she added another feather to her cap by turning director for Ghalib, a music video which was released recently. Ananya, who also starred in the video and co-produced it, says the story is a revenge drama.
Asked what made her don the director’s hat, Ananya says she wanted to bring out her versatility. She also shares that she had actually wanted to make a short film but her friends had said music videos have a greater impact. “Also, since music transcends boundaries, I felt that a song will have a strong emotional recall,” she adds.
It’s the story of a girl who kills her beau because of his harassment. “Managing direction, acting and production was challenging. But I am so pleased I was able to do something I really enjoy,” she says.
Post Thaggedhe Le, Ananya is looking forward to a longer stint in the South. She is set to make her debut in Tamil opposite Santhanam. The movie is a remake of Telugu film Husharu. Interestingly, she had earlier done a music video in Tamil and it was a super hit. “The makers saw my video and approached me for the part. I am glad that the video did the trick for me,” she smiles.
