Actress Nikesha Patel, who was last seen in Narathan, in 2016, is now busy with multiple projects in Tamil and Telugu. It has almost been a year without a release for her, but Nikesha feels that she is still in touch with Tamil films. “I don’t really see it as a gap in my career, as I have constantly been acting in Tamil films. Of course, a release would have been good,” she begins.
The actress is gearing up for her next release, 7 Naatkal, directed by VR Gautham. She says, “7 Naatkal is a crime-thriller and there is a cute romantic track between Shakthi P Vasu and me. Audiences will see a new Shakthi in the movie. Actors Prabhu, Nasser, Ganesh Venkatraman and Rajeev Pillai will be part of the crime segment in the movie.”
But Nikesha feels that she is still being looked at, only as a glamorous actress in Tamil. “I have picked several performance-oriented roles in Telugu, but in Tamil, I am looked at as a glam name. I am trying to break that image,” she discloses.
The Karai Oram actress claims that directors in Tamil are more welcoming of realistic scripts. “It is heartening to see Tamil and Malayalam directors opt for scripts that stay true to nativity. In Telugu, romcoms are common,” she asserts.
The actress now has the Tamil remake of 100 Degree Celsius, Guntur Talkies and yet another Tamil-Telugu bilingual.
