Ippadai Vellum, a rib-tickling, edge-of-the-seat thriller
People say humour in a suspense thriller is not a great combination, and won’t work. I am trying to break that notion with this film Ippadai Vellum,” says Gaurav Narayanan, about his upcoming film, which has Udhayanidhi Stalin, Manjima Mohan and Soori in the lead roles.
“The film actually has three heroes — Udhayanidhi, Soori and Manjima. All the three have big roles to play in the script. The heroine in the film is not just used as a glam element; Manjima is equally important as the other lead characters in the film,” he reveals.
Cautiously avoiding talking about the premise of Ippadai Vellum, the director says, “There are no new stories as such in cinema. So, I concentrate on the screenplay. I am sure the film will be a complete entertainer to the family audience.”
Talking about the protagonist, he says, “Udhay has gone through a tremendous change for the film. From the body language to his looks, we have completely changed him in this. In Manithan, he established himself as a good performer, and with this film, he will prove that he can pull off mass roles too.”
The director also heaps praise on the producers Lyca Productions — “I felt at home while working under this banner. They provided me with everything I needed for the film. Lyca is one of the few production houses for whom content trumps the star value.”
The album of the film has been composed by D Imman, and has already garnered good response from the audience. The film also stars RK Suresh and Daniel Balaji in pivotal roles.
