With the trend of short filmmakers turning into directors prevailing in K’town, here is yet another youngster — Karthik Krishna wielding the megaphone for a film titled Kalavu. He has brought on board comedian Karunakaran and Kalaiayarasan as the male leads for the crime thriller with new girl Abhirami Iyer as the heroine.
Speaking to DC, Karthik reveals, “Kalavu generally means thieving, but, the word also denotes infidelity. The story opens after a conspired incident takes place in the middle of the night, and how these two heroes get involved in it forms the rest. While Kalaiyarasan plays a lower middle-class guy who works in a BPO, Karuna will be seen as a married man working at a call center.”
The best part is that Karunakaran, for the first time will sport a serious role without any comic tinge in it, Karthik discloses. Apparently, Karthik made a pilot with the same title for 37 minutes, which impressed IB Karthikeyan and Dileepan M Sengottayan who are bankrolling the project.
