Anisha is here to stay
Punjabi by birth, Anisha Singh was born and brought up in Mumbai. After Class III, she moved to Delhi to finish schooling and then had a short stint as manager for a jewellery store in Dubai. Upon her return, she enrolled in acting school and then got a chance to be part of a reality show in a popular TV channel. And then the call came — she was roped in as the lead heroine for Telugu film Ayyare. After two more T’town flicks, she now finds herself in Kollywood, debuting in the film Kootathil Oruthan. Ashok Selvan and Priya Anand are in the lead roles.
We ask her if she always wanted to act, and pat comes the reply — “Yes! My mother was an actress; I think I got the craze to act from her,” says the bubbly girl. Even though her progress in the film industry has been slow, Anisha’s sure she’ll get the break she deserves. “When I signed my first film, I didn’t know what the industry was like or what to expect. I was quite taken aback by the lack of quality in Telugu films,” she says adding, “However, I find Kollywood a much better contrast.”
“The entire cast and crew of Kootathil Oruthan got along really well. Priya and Ashok were extremely friendly — we still have a WhatsApp group where we interact regularly,” says Anisha. “I hope the Tamil industry will recognise passionate actors like me, rather than just look for skin show,” she concludes.
