Crime comdey takes look at male prostitution too
Tamil cinema is in the midst of an exciting phase with young filmmakers coming up with quirky, experimental scripts. One such project is debutant Suresh’s film Bodha, which deals with the controversial subject of male prostitution — one that hasn’t been addressed in Tamil cinema before. Vicky, who has completed a course in acting at the Raging Bull Actors Studio, plays the male protagonist, and there’s no female lead.
Talking about the film Suresh says, “It’s a new-age, whacky crime-comedy. Just because it deals with the concept of male prostitution, don’t let your imagination run wild. It is not a sleazy film. There’s a message in it. And the censor board has given it a U/A certificate without a single cut.”
Delving into the story a little bit, he adds, “It is about a youngster who comes from his native place to the city with dreams of making it big in the film industry. But it’s not easy for him to land opportunities. In order to make money, he chooses the wrong path and ends up in trouble. The rest of the film is about how he gets out of that situation.”
The movie’s cast includes Vinod Munna Mippu, Eshwar, and Rahul Thattha. Actress Risha has made a special appearance in a song.
