Choreographer-turned-hero Harikumar’s action film Kadhal Agadhi was released a few months ago, but was pulled from the screens in just two days. Now, the movie is getting a re-release in more than 100 theatres.
Hari plays a double role — hero as well as villain — in the film. Directed by Shami Thirumalai, the film has Ayesha from Mollywood, playing Hari’s love interest. Talking about the film, Shami said, “Industry people felt that Kadhal Agadhi is a negative title. But it is the only apt title for this script. Also, films like Paradesi and Pichaikaaran, which were also considered as negative titles, have done very well at the box-office. Given a good film, audiences are ready to lap it up.” Hari on his part said, “I was initially apprehensive to accept a character with negative shades. Once I listened to the full narration, I was floored. It had lot of scope for performance, and also looks-wise, there are many changes”.
He quickly adds, “The time of release was wrong. Kadhal Agadhi was released alongside flicks like Vijay’s Puli and Nayan’s Maya. So we could not get good theatres. All of us have worked really hard and we don’t want a good movie to leave the theatres without being noticed. That is why we pulled out on the second day the last time, and now it has been given a decent release.”
