When a cat turned hero!
Over the course of Tamil cinema history, we’ve seen entertainers featuring animals like dogs, snakes, and even elephants. But, in what is considered to be the first, a cat is playing the hero in a movie called Meow.
Directed by debutant Chinnas Palanisamy, the film is touted to be an out-and-out family entertainer. “Though such films are largely seen as movies for children, I wanted to bring my own perspective into it. In fact, it’s an edge-of-the-seat thriller,” says the director.
Speaking about the difficulties in making the cat act, the director laughs and says, “It’s easy to train dogs. But it was very difficult to make the cat perform! I adopted a cat and trained it gradually. It’s named Selfie in the movie and I’m sure everybody will love it.”
Chinnas, who has directed more than 100 ad films, also commended his strong technical crew. “For some scenes, we needed CG. The team has done excellent job that you wouldn’t even spot the difference between the real and the CG version of Selfie!” Popular singer Sreejith Edavana has composed the music, and the film is set to hit the screens this summer.
