A few days ago, actress Samantha posted a video of her newly acquired silambam skills on her social media accounts. The video clearly showed how good she had gotten at the traditional martial art, and she received much praise for it. While many wondered what made Samantha take up the sport all of a sudden, it is now known that it is indeed for her upcoming film with Sivakarthikeyan, directed by Ponram.
Confirming the news with us, Ponram says, “Yes, it is for my film, and we are giving her special training. We always get to see actors taking martial arts practice and showing off their valour on screen, but for my film, Samantha will get to put her Silambam skills on display.”
Even after much prodding, Ponram refused to divulge much details about her character or the film as such. “We are yet to begin the film, so we don’t want to let out much about it. But I can definitely say that it will be entertaining, much like my previous two films.”
This will be Ponram’s third collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan after Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan, both of which were super hits. The yet-untitled film, which will be bankrolled by 24 AM Studios is set to go on floors from June 16.
