Ghajinikanth is a family entertainer: Director

However, Ghajinikanth produced by Gnanavelraja is a clean family entertainer that has been given U Certification.

Santhosh Jayakumar who received flak for his first two adult horror comedy films - Hara Hara Mahadevaki and Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kutthu - is all set with his third titled Ghajinikanth featuring Arya and Sayeesha in the lead. At the promo meet of the film, the cast and crew, including the hero and the director, vouched that Ghajinikanth, a remake of a Telugu film Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, is a family entertainer, dispelling the fear the film might also be viewed like Jayakumar’s earlier flicks.

Speaking on the occasion, Santhosh said, “My earlier films were meant for adults and the genre which is common in Hollywood was criticised by many. Many people spoke on several occasions about Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kutthu as if it was a sin to make such a genre. Moreover, the Censors cleared it with ‘A’ certificate, which means only those above 18 years of age can watch such movies. Those who knew about this fact would not have expressed displeasure on IAMK. However, Ghajinikanth produced by Gnanavelraja is a clean family entertainer that has been given U Certification. There’s no sleaze and the film can be viewed by all types of audiences.”

Heaping praises on Arya, he adds, “After we decided to remake the Tollywood movie, I approached only Arya. He was impressed with the line and gave full cooperation. I was awed by his focus and commitment. Also, Sayeesha was keen to know the meaning of each and every dialogue before she enacts it. That way, I can says she extracted work from me (smiles)”

Coming to Santhosh’s rescue, Arya explains, “Though Santhosh’s earlier films were adult comedy, the dialogues were enjoyable. Ghajinikanth is no different.

The funny dialogues are youth centric. And since this is the remake of a Telugu movie, I knew its content. You can watch it with your entire family. And Santhosh completed the movie in just 38 days from start to finish. That shows the speed with which he works.”

Aadukalam Naren, Uma Padbanabhan, Neelima Rani, Lingeshwaran, composer Balamurali Balu, lyricist Kabilan Vairamuthu, Baba Bhaskar and Ballu were also present on the occasion.
