Kaavaalaa is my most appreciated song...
Tamannaah Bhatia, who was the only female actor present at the release of Kaavaalaa, Tu Aa Dilbara, the song from Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer which has taken social media by storm even before the release of the Nelson directorial, answered a barrage of questions from the media in Mumbai
ON THE SONG GOING VIRAL
When I was shooting the Tamil version, I had the best team, including the director, and Jani Master, the choreographer. The presence of Rajini Sir made it magical. I just knew we were shooting a good song. It’s a song that can be done only by a female actor. It’s a Tamil song, with a Telugu title, and now it has been brought to the Hindi audiences. Everyone’s loving it!
ABOUT THE FILM
Jailer is a rooted film, true to its region. We are strong when we celebrate our culture. The film has an ensemble cast, which includes Rajini Sir, Mohanlal Sir and Shiva Sir.
ON WHAT SHE FELT WHEN OFFERED THE ROLE IN JAILER
In creative arts, everyone has good days and bad days, but people like Nelson Sir and Rajini Sir have been consistently successful, they are bankable names. So obviously I was eager to do this film. I am glad I took it up.
ON WHAT SHE HAS LEARNT, WORKING WITH CHIRANJEEVI AND RAJINIKANTH
I think both of these people are humble, hardworking and dedicated, and they have not taken their positions for granted. This is something I have learned from them, and hope to follow till the end of my life.
ON BEING COMFORTABLE WITH DIFFERENT KINDS OF ROLES AS AN ACTOR
Since my very first Telugu film Happy Days, I have always been part of ensemble films. I feel there is power when a lot of creative people come together. I feel being with the stalwarts of the industry brings out the best in you. I also understand that every character has their own part to play. I am a very secure actor.
ON SPECIAL SONGS GAINING PROMINENCE IN THE SOUTH
I love to dance and perform and I was very happy when I got an opportunity for a special song for the first time. This must be my seventh one. Two or three others were hits, but Kaavaalaa is the one that’s most appreciated. Every song has an element of luck. Age doesn’t matter. If Tom Cruise can do an action sequence in his 60’s, I can do songs like Kaavaalaa even when I’m 60.
ON WHAT DANCING MEANS TO HER
It’s given that you can only dance with joy and happiness. Nobody dances in a sad mood. I’ve loved dancing since I was a kid. it’s a way for me to express myself, a way to channelise my joy. As a performer, I love doing it for my audiences.
ON BEING ON A WINNING STREAK
As the saying goes, luck favours the brave and those who work hard. I’ve been brave and doing things that excites me and ignites a fire in me.
ON THE PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL PHASE SHE IS IN CURRENTLY
As a woman in 2023, it’s important to accept your- self the way you are — and the moment you start doing that, everyone starts accepting you. People feel that I am beautiful, but I feel true beauty comes through acceptance of yourself. I am one of those fortunate to learn this through my journey in cinema.
