Give films to Amazon after a month of its release: Abirami Ramanathan
At the audio launch of Aaraam Thinai, a horror genre which debates if ghosts exist or not, Tamil Nadu Cinema Theatre Owners’ Federation head and producer/distributor Abirami Ramanathan said that distributors were responsible for Thalapathy Vijay’s big hero status. Vijay TV anchor Vaishalini turns heroine with this film.
“If you ask me if spirits exist, I would say ‘yes’. Whether it is supernatural or ghosts, it is human tendency to see something, which he actually cannot. That’s the reason why there’s so much rush for Nayanthara’s horror film,” he started in a lighter vein.
Referring Ponraj, who spoke earlier that small films are being killed because of greed of theater owners, he said, “I distributed 50 films in the last one year and out of which 45 films were small budget movies. Even though Vijay is a big star now, when he came to the industry, his films were small. Had theatre owners and exhibitors rejected his films saying they were small budget ones, would Vijay have grown so big? So, the problem is not with us. People are not coming to theaters to watch small budget films with the exception of few like Aruvi. We don’t know why.” He requested makers to give rights to be given to Amazon after a month of the film’s release.
