Vaigarai Balan, who earlier made the critically acclaimed film Kadigara Manithargal, is all set with his next titled Chiyangal.
A quirky subject Balan tells DC, "Chiyan is the word used in a few areas in Southern Tamil Nadu especially in Theni and Megamalai to address the elderly men in their neighborhood. The film delves into the lives of old people, their wishes, the problems they face and how society looks at them, not in a preachy but in an enjoyable manner. What if aged people run 'Varuttha Padatha Vaalibhar Sangam', the answer is Chiyangal. I took a leaf out of my dad's life for the story."
While Karikalan and Risha essay the lead pair, Nalinikanth, Pasupathiraj, Samuthira Seeni, Eswar Thiyagarajan, Sakthivel, Narayanasamy, Durai Sundaram play the titular characters.
