The much-anticipated teaser of Dhanush’s Vada Chennai was recently released on the occasion of the actor’s birthday, and it managed to get a record 3 million views in a single day. The film, which marks the actor’s fifth collaboration with national award-winning filmmaker Vetri Maaran, chronicles 35 years in the life of the residents of North Madras (Vada Chennai).
Going by the teaser, the storyline involves gang wars, drugs and a battle for power. Dhanush seems to have at least two different looks in the film — a youthful, clean-shaven look with a funky hairstyle and printed shirts reminiscent of the 80’s, and an older look with a short, thick beard.
Aishwarya Rajesh plays Dhanush’s love interest, while Andrea plays Ameer’s wife in the film. The teaser even features a spur-of-the-moment lip-lock between Dhanush and Aishwarya that lasts a good few seconds. And while an onscreen kiss is not new for Dhanush, it’s out of the ordinary for his co-star. Insiders reveal that Aishwarya, who is keen on playing offbeat characters, agreed to do the intimate scene because she understood its importance.
“Whether we win or lose, we must fight,” and “Huts or garbage dump yard… this is our home and we must fight for it,” are some powerful lines voiced by Dhanush in the teaser. We’re expecting the rest of the movie to be just as intense.
