In an unexpected development, actor-politician Vijay has reportedly instructed KVN Productions to cancel all existing theatrical agreements for Jana Nayagan. According to Tamil media reports, distributors who had acquired theatrical rights will now receive full refunds.

Reports suggest that issues arising from the CBFC process have contributed to the uncertainty surrounding the film's theatrical rollout. As a result, the makers have decided to revisit their release strategy.
