Madras HC Rejects Tamannaah Bhatia's Rs 1-Cr Plea Against Soap Firm

The actress who is busy with films, OTT projects and special appearances, also has a high-profile presence in the Indian advertising market with a diverse portfolio covering beauty, retail, and FMCG sectors.

The Madras High Court on Thursday (April 16, 2026) dismissed a petition filed by actress Tamannaah Bhatia seeking Rs 1 crore in damages from Power Soaps for allegedly continuing to use her photographs on soap wrappers and promotional materials even after the expiry of the agreement in 2009 as their brand ambassador.

As per reports, a Division Bench of Justices P. Velmurugan and K. Govindarajan Thilakavadi rejected the original side appeal filed by Tamannaah in 2018, challenging the dismissal of her 2011 civil suit by a single judge of the High Court on April 17, 2017.She was unable to produce evidence to substantiate that the company had used her photos on the soap wrappers or any other material. The Puducherry-based company also opposed her plea, denying such usage or any exploitation of her photographs in their advertisements after the agreement period.

The Baahubali actress, who is busy with films, OTT projects and special appearances, also has a high-profile presence in the Indian advertising market. With a diverse portfolio covering beauty, retail, and FMCG sectors, her latest endorsement in March 2026 is LOVETC, the premium colour cosmetics brand under Ananya Birla’s Birla Cosmetics, which appointed her as the face of the brand on Wednesday.
Earlier, Tamannaah secured a 2- year endorsement as brand ambassador for the iconic Mysore Sandal Soap by Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) for Rs 6.2 crore. She beat the likes of local Kannada actresses - Rashmika Mandanna, Pooja Hegde, and Sreeleela to clinch the high -profile deal. Tamannaah recently turned entrepreneur, starting her own jewellery store in Mumbai called Tamannaah Fine Jewellery.
The actress, who has completed 21 years in the film industry, starring in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi films has delivered several blockbusters include the Baahubali series (2015-2017), Happy Days (2007), Ayan (2009), 100% Love (2011), Siruthai (2011), Racha (2012), Veeram (2014), Oopiri (2016), and F2: Fun and Frustration (2019). Her recent hits also include Jailer (2023) and Aranmanai- 4 (2024).
On the work front, Tamannaah will be seen with Sidharth Malhotra in Vvan: Force of the Forest, directed by Deepak Mishra. The film is set to release in theatres on 28 August, 2026.
