Major, Sita Ramam and Karthikeya 2 vie for National honours

If industry sources are to be believed, more than 30-odd Telugu films are in the race to bag various awards in the upcoming national awards list. “Three films ‘Sita Ramam,’ Major’ and ‘Karthikeya 2’ are ahead to bag few awards,” says a source, who adds, ‘Even Mahesh Babu ‘s ‘Sarkari Vaari Paata’ is also vying for an award this evening,” he adds. Out of 300-odd films across India which includes Telugu films(30,) Kannada(32), Tamil (40), and Malayalam lam movies (42) they are competing with Bollywood, Bengali, and Marathi cinema. “Jury members selected five films from Telugu and 5 films from Kannada and there is stiff competition among them for coveted best actor, actress, best film and other technical awards, so Telugu films have a chance to pick a few,” he points out.

The Central government would announce the winners by 3 pm and would be completed by 7 pm since jury members are in final rounds of discussion to pick the best among the competitors. “Mahesh Babu has been presented as a producer of ‘Sarkari Vaari Paata’ which talks about bank frauds and how the rich are taking banks for rides, while the lower class are suffering due to recovery agents,” he informs.

Last, year Allu Arjun won the best actor national award for his performance in ‘Pushpa The Rise’ and broke the jinx of six decades in Telugu cinema. “This time, we have to wait for Dulquer, Sesh Adivi, and Nikhil Siddharth are the race but we have to wait until the final list is announced,” he concludes
