Manorathangal: Nine stories that transport you to a new world
Manorathangal, the short story-based-web series is streaming on Zee5 and it is nothing short of 'spectacle', despite being a little slow-paced.
The web series is based on the works of MT Vasudevan Nair, the legendary writer, screenwriter and director.
Tamil superstar Kamal Hassan introduces the 9-episode web series, where he talks about the greatness of 'MT' and his association with him. 8 directors and various superstars including Mammootty, Mohanlal and Fahaad Faasil play protagonist roles.
Mammoty convincingly plays a Journalist, where he goes on to search for his sister. Will he find his sister and what are the challenges he faced in his journey is what makes the story suspenseful.
Mohanlal on the other hand, plays the character of a muslim trader, who falls in love with his friend's sister. The monochrome episode fairly uses artistic liberty as a means to explain things where the audience have to identify the perspective of the story-teller.
Fahadh Faasil essays the role of a young man, who migrates to Canada. The episode revolves around the modern day problems of people who travel abroad and feel trapped.
Mindscapes, the English title of the series is a combination of stories that is set up around the culture of Kerala and Keralites, among other things .
The 9 episode series is a slow-paced experience and might disappoint a few audiences, however its new approach, natural settings and killer performances make it a must watch.
