Nitish reveals joy acting with Rajinikanth

Nitish Veera, a regular in Selvaragahvan films, will be seen playing Superstar Rajinikanth's elder son in Kaala.

Actor Nitish Veera is on cloud nine! The koothu-p-pattarai trained actor who is a regular in Selvaragahvan films and worked in movies like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Maaveeran Kittu is now Superstar Rajinikanth’s elder son. Yes, Nitish Veera is the reel son of Kaala aka Karikaalan, the character portrayed by Rajini in Kaala.

Speaking to DC about his experiences in shooting with the Superstar, a composed Nitish says, “We shot for 40 days. Those were the days of ‘miracle and wonder.”

So how did the film happen? “I have been meeting Ranjith sir for long. When he signed a second film with Rajini sir after Kabali, he called me and said I am there in Kaala. He conducted a workshop for all the actors from Kaala and I took part for 20 days in it. The workshop itself was like a shooting spot. Till the first day the real shoot started, I was not aware of what character I was going to perform. Ranjith came and told me that I play Rajini sir’s eldest son in the movie. For a moment, I was pleasantly shocked.”

Elaborating on his role, he said, “I play Kathiravan, an obedient son of Rajini and Eshwari Rao. He is very responsible and resolves everything between his father and siblings.”

The moment the topic shifts to Rajini, his eyes glow. “Despite being such a huge star, sir is so down to earth. Even as he enters the sets, he would say ‘Hi’ to me and put his arms around my shoulders. It was a touching gesture from a Superstar. With each day, I learnt at least one good thing from him. While we all were awe of his acting, Rajini sir would be marvelling at Nana Patekar’s performance.”

Heaping laurels on Rajini, he revealed, “On the last day of the final schedule, he came to the shooting spot at 7 am and was sitting there throughout in the smoke and dust till it got over the next day at 6 am. He is a Superstar even today because of his dedication and focus.”
