Orma, the new heroine
Model, anchor, costume designer, script consultant and assistant director — these were the credits above the name of Orma Bose for the past few years. Even taking up the assignment under the designations, her only aim was to establish herself as an actor. And now, Orma has become one, that too with a lead role. “I have been zeroed in as the heroine in Ithihasa-fame director S. Binu’s upcoming yet to be titled venture. As the movie is under pre-production, I cannot reveal more,” says the actress, who has worked in the director's earlier ventures.
“In Ithihasa, I have appeared in a small role. Later, in his second venture, I was working in the costumes department as I am trained in fashion technology. When I came to know that they were in search for an actress to essay a small role, I helped them find one, but it didn’t work out. It was then he suggested me to take up the role as they all knew that I wanted to be an actress. I am glad to debut as a heroine with the film from the same team,” she says.
Orma was last seen in Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer Ore Mukham. “Though I have acted in a few other films, Ore Mukham was my first film in a supporting role. I act as the friend of Prayaga Martin in the movie. In fact, I was with the film from its pre-production stage as I was working with BackWater Studios which bankrolled the movie,” says the actress, who has assisted director Jeethu Joseph, Joshiy and Rosshan Andrrews.
Does the modelling career help her to chase her acting dreams? “I do not think that it has helped me so far. Even I have heard that modelling is a stepping stone to films, but I haven’t felt that. In fact, I have not appeared in so many ads. To be frank, it was my career as an assistant director and script consultant that helped me find my way to the acting field. It got me a lot of contacts and gave me opportunity to witness how senior actors transform into their roles," says the actress.
