Entertainment guaranteed

Ranjith Sankar, who is coming up with his next movie Ramante Edanthottam, is all set to deliver yet another family entertainer with Kunchacko Boban.

A minimum guarantee - that the audience would be entertained - is the main attraction of the films directed by Ranjith Sankar. From his very first film Dileep-starrer Passenger, till the latest outing Pretham, he has promised that entertainment in all his films.

Now the director is coming up with Ramante Edanthottam, the first film for which he is teaming up with Kunchacko Boban. Already the film has become a talk of the town, following the trailer and songs of the movie reaching the social media. “Ramante Edanthottam will be completely different from my previous films as it is set against a different backdrop. Raman lives in his Edanthottam, which is in the middle of a forest —a place which is isolated and free from all artificial elements. In the meantime, we show yet another character who lives in the middle of the city. As of now, I cannot reveal more details about the storyline,” says the director.

About the location recce he conducted for the subject, he says “It was around eight years back that I wrote the story of this movie after visiting a resort in Nelliampathy. But a few months back, when I zeroed in on this subject as my next movie, I went there and understood that it has changed a lot and became unsuitable for my story. Later, we moved to Vagamon, that too just a few days before we started the shoot. In fact, I was not sure whether I could film all the scenes in the same location. But when I reached there, I could sense that it was the apt location for the subject.”

Ranjith is noted for completing the production as well as the post production of his films in a short period. So what about the preproduction phase? “The stories of the majority of the films that I have done were completed years ago. Normally, I write the stories on my mobile phone using an application installed in it. Just two or three weeks before the shoot, I copy those drafts on to paper and start the dialogue draft. Before that, the casting would be completed. Even though the paper works would be finished, I opt to go for many corrections on the sets,” he says.

Quizzed about his next, he says, “I have not finalised my next film. It will be only after the release of my current movie that I start thinking about the next. I have completed many subjects and I am in talks with Mammookka, Dileepettan, Prithviraj and some others for other projects. But as of now, I cannot say anything about my next project.”
