Director Jayaraj, who has been making movies under the Navarasa series for quite some time, has started shooting for his next, touted to be an out-and-out commercial flick.
The director had announced Roudram 2018, the seventh movie in the Navarasa series, early in 2019.
Kalidas Jayaram, who made his comeback with Omar Lulu's Poomaram, will appear in the lead role of the movie titled Backpackers. The actor was last seen in Midhun Manuel Thomas directorial Argentina Fans Kaattoorkadavu where he was paired opposite Mayanadhi actor Aishwarya Lekshmi. Debutant Karthika Nair will be the female lead of Backpackers, which is produced by Suresh Kumar Muttathu under the banner of Prakrithi Pictures.
According to the makers, Renji Panicker, who appeared in the lead roles in Jayaraj's Bhayanakam and Roudram 2018, will havea prominent role in Backpackers. Shivajith Padmanabhan, who gained popularity for his negative role in the recent release Kalki, Pandalam Ullas and Vavachan form the supporting cast. The director has also penned the script for the movie.
