Working with the biggies: Malavika Nair
Those who have watched Mammootty-starrer Karutha Pakshikal will never forget little Malavika Nair, who portrayed the character of a poor blind girl. The character was appreciated by audiences and critics so much so that it brought her a Kerala state Film Award. And Malavika went on to receive her second State award for best child artiste for the movie Oomakuyil Padumbol. The two state awards were a definite indication that Malayalam film industry has got a promising actor. And Malavika ensured that she won’t disappoint her audience.
The actress, who has shared screen space with megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal, was recently seen in Georgettan’s Pooram. Malavika, though is seen only in a couple of scenes, says that the length of the character never bothered her. “I have never worried about my screen time. By God’s grace, I have got pivotal characters in movies. In Georgettan’s Pooram, my role is very small, but a very important one. Moreover, how could I miss a chance working with Dileepettan,” she added.
Malavika, who has just completed her class XII exams, feels that studies are equally important and even though acting is her passion, she won’t give up her studies for that. There is no doubt that the young actor is immensely talented as she feels responsible enough to pick roles which would not tarnish her image as a child artist. This is why she has not taken up any projects in other South Indian languages despite being approached. The actor is in talks with filmmakers for some projects and reveals that she will look for a role that is challenging and worth doing.
