On screen was Santhi Krishna, a young mother pampering and lovingly admonishing her three little kids. The mom is here again as a singer. Yes, Santhi, who returned to Malayalam cinema after a huge sabbatical has become singer for Kuttanadan Marpappa with a lullaby. The song Eden Poove Kanmani... is just out on YouTube for listeners.
"Even before writing the lyrics I was told it is she who will be singing. The instruction was to write something for less orchestration. I remember having a passing memory of her singing for a television show. Other than that I never knew that she'd sing so well. She amazed us all. It is written not for a typical lullaby scene. Here a mom in the kitchen is doing her routine and singing," says Vinaayak Sasikumar, the lyricist. The verses are set to tune by Rahul Raj.
