Protest against attack on cine artist Azeez Nedumangad
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A host of mimicry, cine artists organised a march from Manaveeyam protesting an attack on cine-mimicry artist Azeez Nedumangad by organisers of a programme on Monday. Azeez shot to fame after featuring in the movie ‘Action Hero Biju’. His mimicry team had committed to perform a show at Dharmashastha temple, Chamavila at 9.30pm on Saturday night. However, the team could reach here only by 10.30pm as some of the members were caught up in a flight delay. Mr Azeez was also returning after participating in Venjaramoodu Suraj’s stage show held in a middle-east country.
As soon as they arrived at the spot, the organisers including women roughed up the artist and his colleagues, Sunil Vellarada, Shyam Thiruvallam, Binu B Kamal, Anoop Bahuleyan, Sandhya and Ratheesh Kallara. The organisers also roughed up some in the audience who tried to save the artists. During the attack, Mr Azeez suffered damage to his eardrum and had deep wounds on his forearm. He also vomited and collapsed on stage. Vellarada police has registered a case and started a probe. Director Rajasenan who led the protest in front of the secretariat demanded respect and protection to all artists at work.
