Subject is what matters: Tovino Thomas
Tovino Thomas — he does not need any introduction as each film buff, who follows Malayalam film industry, can easily recognise this actor who mesmerised them with his natural performances in the past two years. Tovino, who shot into fame with the antagonist role in Dulquer Salmaan-starrer ABCD, could create a fan following with the role of Perumparambil Appu in Ennu Ninte Moideen.
The actor, who last appeared as villain in Binu’s Style, will be next seen essaying central characters in two films — debutant John Paul’s Guppy and Kunjiramayanam-fame Basil Joseph’s Godha.
Tovino says he does not bother whether he is offered the role of hero or not. “I am not keen in essaying hero roles only. I like to become part of good films by essaying roles which have importance in the storylines. I do not go behind hero-oriented subjects. I believe that each film is a product of team work, so that each role in the film also has importance in the narration of the story,” he points out.
The actor appears as a 37-year old man in Guppy directed by John Paul. “It is a wonderful film, which deals with a unique subject through a bunch of wonderful actors. I am happy to say that I could become part of this project which has a set of versatile actors that include Sreeni ettan (Sreenivasan), Sudheer Karamana, Dileesh Pothan and Rohini Ma’m,” says the Seventh Day actor, who sports a different look for the film.
“I can’t say I am the only hero of the film, but yes I essay one of the central characters. Chethan, who has acted in films like Anchu Sundarikal, is yet another central character in the film,” he says adding, “The last schedule of the film will be start in few days.”
Once he completes his portions in Guppy, Tovino will join Godha, which will start filming soon. He has already started preparations for his role in the film, which revolves around ‘wrestling’. “Though earlier, I used to go to the gymnasium regularly, for the past few months I could not do so properly. It was after accepting the role in Godha that I resumed work outs in the gym. I think, I should continue this even after the shoot of Godha to keep my body fit,” says the actor, who is all set to share screen space with Prithviraj again in Ezra, after Ennu Ninte Moideen
