Mohanlal and Priyadarshan in Thiruvananthapuram for Oppam
Actor Mohanlal and director Priyadarsan are known for their friendship, which goes way back to their college days in their hometown, Thiruvananthapuram. Later they stepped into world of cinema with Thiranottam, for which Priyan wrote the screenplay and was entirely shot in the capital city. It was in the same city where Priyan’s debut film as director — Puchakkoru Mukkuthi —was also filmed.
Though Lal and Priyan are settled in Kochi and Chennai respectively, they still find time to meet up for old times sake at Thiruvananthapuram. Now the latest news is that Priyadarsan’s Oppam, which has Mohanlal in the lead role, is being filmed in their hometown.
According to the sources close to the project, a two day shoot has been charted in Thiruvananthapuram. “The filming will be held at Chithranjali studios near Thiruvallom. The scenes with Lal sir and Tamil actor-director Samuthirakani will be filmed during the shoot scheduled for Monday and Tuesday,” says the source.
It is after completing the shoot at Ooty, Kochi and Vagamon that the crew shifted the shoot to Thiruvananthapuram. Oppam, which is reported as a crime thriller, has Tamil actress Sanchitha Shetty and Vimala Raman as heroines. The film written by the director himself is expected to reach theatres during Onam.
