Suresh sisters on the go
In the wee hours of Wednesday, Abhirami Suresh sought prayers and love from their beloved listeners and well-wishers with a status update on Facebook. “Myself and my sister Amrutha Suresh have geared up for a new musical venture that will be a milestone for us as musicians. Will unveil the much awaited news in a few days...”
We are not sure which exact moment she meant, but within the next few hours, a surprise broke. The Suresh sisters are not just singers anymore, they are composers too. By composing and singing the sassy title song for the portmanteau movie Crossroad, the duo marks a new beginning.
At the song launch, the singer sisters also shared their version of a surprise tale, of cooking up some quick tunes for a film song in mere four days. Amrutha, who is busy greeting and acknowledging the dignitaries at the function, sums up her words in just one sentence before handing over the baton to Abhirami.
“Together we sang, together we composed. That's how it was,” says Amrutha.
Abhirami begins. “The producer (Parthan Mohan) of Mudra (a short segment in the film) and I have been close friends. During a casual talk one day, he suddenly asked me about composing the song. The number of days left for its launch was coming closer. We sat together, did the composing and recorded it at a studio in Kochi,” explains Abhirami.
Amrutha also attributes the credits for composing the song to her younger sister. “There's always a song in my mind.
“Composing was something that I have been doing from a very young age. My first composition was out at the age of 14,” says Abhirami, a skilled keyboardist with formal knowledge in playing violin. The verses belong to Avira Rebecca, director of Cherivu, another segment in the movie.
There is more to come. The video song will showcase the acting chops of the sisters. The shoot is to start very soon. Just recently had Amrutha launched herself as an actor-singer with the album Anayathe.
