Some of you may have found familiar the actress who appeared in the song Rithu Shalabhame which was released on YouTube the other day. No need to rack your brains. Ritika alias Rits Badiani, who appeared in the song in Don Max’s film 10 Kalpanakal is a Mumbai-based model who has featured in many pan-Indian commercials. It was in an unexpected moment that Rits, who has acted in Akshay Kumar-starrer Airlift, got a call from South. “My first commercial was with Hrithik Roshan for a jewellery directed by a Malayali — Shibu Anthikad sir,” she begins.
“One day, he called me and said Don Max has asked for my contact number to cast me in his film 10 Kalpanakal,” she says. In fact, Don Max has gone through a lot of faces before zeroing in on Rits, who is a class X student. “When Don bro — that’s what I call him as he is really like a brother — came with this story, I was very impressed and did not go into a detailed thought process before saying yes to him. To be frank, he has conducted auditions and approached many actors for this role. At last, he found me on an advertisement. I act as Angel, a pivotal character in the movie,” she says.
Ritika points out that Mollywood is totally different from B’town. “There, on the sets, you can see around 100 to 200 people, who all are behind the camera. But here, just a few were there and the work pressure is less as we feel like we are amidst our friends and family,” says the young actress, who has appeared in about 150 commercials already. Quizzed about her future ventures, she says, “I have got some offers and as of now, I have not committed to any project. My mom is the one who hears the scripts. If we find any interesting subject, I will definitely sign up for it. My only demand is that I need a neat film with a good role.”
