Jallikattu at Toronto International Film Festival

Apart from Jallikattu, Geethu Mohandas’ crime noir bilingual Moothon, starring Nivin Pauly, will also be screened at the TIFF.

Celebration time for LJP fans! Jallikattu, the latest from the maverick Lijo Jose Pellissery, is all set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which is on from September 5 to 15.

Surrounded by much hype, Jallikattu has been one of the most awaited films of the year, especially after Lijo’s Ee Ma Yau, which had awed audience and critics alike, sweeping most of the national and state awards last year. Starring Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose and Vinayakan among others, Jallikattu is based on S. Hareesh’s short story Maoist.

The TIFF page explains the synopsis as, “A bold new voice in Malayalam cinema, Lijo Jose Pellissery presents a portrait of a remote village in his hometown where a buffalo escapes and causes a frenzy of ecstatic violence.”

Apart from Jallikattu, Geethu Mohandas’ crime noir bilingual Moothon, starring Nivin Pauly, will also be screened at the TIFF.

The raw and crude posters of Jallikattu has added to the excitement of movie buffs, who call LJP the Mel Gibson of Mollywood!
