Mammootty wins hearts

The actor has been offering support to the flood survivors and families of victims and congratulating the kind-hearted souls.

For long, M’town actors have been maintaining that they do not want to tell the world about their charity works. Of late, Mammootty has been engaging in inspiring acts of visiting people in distress, offering them solace and all support.

Going one step ahead, the actor called up Noushad, a street vendor, who had donated all his stock for flood relief, on Bakrid. Congratulating an awe-struck Noushad for his noble act, Mammooty said, “I heard that you donated all the garments in your shop. That’s a good act none of us had thought about. May God bless you! It’s a great act on this auspicious day. Eid Mubarak.”

He also talked to Pushpalatha, mother of Linu, a youngster who lost his life during relief operations. Condoling Linu’s demise, Mammootty offered all help to support the family.

During last year’s floods too, the actor had visited the relief camps in Puthevelikkara, where he interacted with people and cheered them up. Earlier this year, he had been to Lakkidi to visit the family of Vasanthakumar, a jawan killed in Pulwama attack. Mammootty had also been to Paravur in 2016 after the Puttingal temple blast to comfort the survivors and the victims’ kin.

The mega star’s active social presence had been kicking off rumours that he was planning a political entry, especially when he acted in the YSR biopic Yatra. But Mammootty had made it clear that he had no such plans. “I don’t think I will ever have much interest in politics. You don’t need to be in politics to serve the people,” he had said.
