Nandan Unni's new hair look
Since he started his career as an actor, Nandan Unni’s main aim was to try out different roles. Even when he was coming up in different avatars as such in Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi and Ennu Ninte Moideen, he was found least interested in experimenting on his hair style — the factor which made him unique among his contemporaries. Now, the actor is coming up in a new look with debutant Rishi Sivakumar directed Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti.
Nandan says it was the director, who asked him to cut his long hair for the film. “The main reason behind his demand was that he wanted me to sport a fresh look. It might be our friendship which made him to try out like this. It is for the first time I am reducing my long hair for a film, which is like my USP,” says the actor, who debuted with Vineeth Sreenivasan directed Malarvadi Arts Club.
It was around five years ago, Nandan came to know about VTPT. “It was on the sets of Sreeni (Sreenivasan) sir’s Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar, I met Rishi for the first time. He was then assisting cinematographer S. Kumar sir in that film. We became friends and he revealed to me that his aim was to become a filmmaker instead of a cinematographer. Later, he shared the story, which was on his mind for his directorial venture,” Nandan said about how he became part of this Kunchacko Boban-starrer.
Nandan acts as Raghu, who is one of the close friends of Chackochan. “He is not just Raghu, but ‘Konayil Aliyan Raghu’. It is in fact his nickname, because he has a small shop at one corner of the theatre (which is also an important factor of the film),” says the actor who is all set to act as ‘Auto Sudhi’ in a Jayasurya-starrer.
Nandan says his character has no connection with Mohanlal’s Auto Sudhi in Venu Nagavally’s Aey Auto. “Along with the name of my character, my vehicle’s name is Sundari. Apart from these names, both characters have nothing in common,” he sums up.
