Director Rajesh Pillai keeps his promise
It has been around five months since the release of Kunjiramayanam, in which actor siblings Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan appeared together on the big screen.
Deepak Parambol, who has essayed key roles in Vineeth’s directorial ventures Thattathin Marayathu and Thira, was also seen in a pivotal role in that film.
The actor is now back in action with a powerful role in Rajesh Pillai’s upcoming film Vettah, which has Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban and Indrajith Sukumaran in the lead roles. It was post the release of Kunjiramayanam that Deepak got the offer to act in Vettah.]
“It was during September-October I came to know that Rajesh chettan is going to cast me in his film.”
“Though I knew that he is in the pre-production works of the film, I was not expecting a call from him,” says Deepak, who was dreaming for the past few years to be a part of a Rajesh Pillai film.
“After the release of his film Traffic, I had tried to contact him through phone inorder to ask for a chance in his next film. But it was after the release of Vineeth ettan’s Thattathin Marayathu that I got a chance to meet him personally. When I approached him, he could recognise me and said he had liked my performance. He had given me a promise that he would definitely call me if a roll which suits me, is there in his film,” he says.
Rajesh kept his promise. When it comes to his role in the film, Deepak says, “Vettah is a mystery thriller which gives importance to all the characters in it. But of course those of Manju chechi, Chackochan and Indrettan are the lead ones. And about my role — that I cannot reveal now as it is too early to talk about this.”
It is for the second time that Deepak acts in a thriller film, after Thira and for the first time out of his friends’ circle. “As far as my role is concerned, Vettah also cannot be compared with Thira. Though both are thrillers, the style and the core subject are entirely different. The common links between these two are me and Shaan ikka (Shaan Rahman) who composed the tracks for both films,” says the actor.
When quizzed about the gap after Kunjiramayanam, he says, “There was no big gap. After Kunjiramayanam, I joined Vettah. In the meantime, I was hearing lots of scripts and some of them that I have committed, will start rolling soon.”
