A precious move
Parvathy Arun, who has now chosen the screen-name Nidhi, sounds excited over the phone when she speaks about her second movie Ennalum Sharath, which is all set to hit the screens this weekend. A Balachandra Menon directorial, the movie has a bunch of newcomers who expect to launch their career with the movie. “The movie is directed by a legend and it is self-explanatory of the quality with which the movie has been made,” she says, sharing her experience of working with Balachandra Menon. “Menon sir is highly professional and enterprising in his approach towards making a movie. He very well knows how a scene should look and he doesn’t think even for a minute before pushing his actors to that extent.
In a way it was also a reality check for me regarding my strengths as an actor and I could make out the portions where I need to work hard.” However, the actor stresses that the actor-writer-director was very jovial with everyone on the sets and that they never felt as if they were working with such a senior person from the industry.
Ennalum Sharath is Nidhi's second movie, Chemparathipoo being her first. Asked about her persuasion to change her name from Parvathy to Nidhi, she says, “It was Menon sir who suggested I change my name from Parvathy to Nidhi and I felt it was a great idea because there are many actors in Mollywood with the same name and therefore I do not want people to mistake me with others.” She adds it was Balachandra Menon who offered her the role on his own and she readily agreed to do it. “I was sure that I will definitely have a good character if a director like him approached me. I was not wrong when he narrated the script. I play the character, Elizabeth, who gets trapped in a love affair and the various situations that take place in connection with it form the crux of the story.”
Nidhi, who has done her engineering studies, has completed a Telugu movie, Ishtam and a Malayalam movie, Kalikootukar. She hopes to work more in movies that offer her good characters.
