Help at hand in Shyamaprasad's trilogy
Ace Malayalam film director Shyamaprasad, known for his poetic movies, took a different route by planning a series of hard-hitting short films in collaboration with Bodhini Films.
“These are informational series following the pattern of presenting a socially relevant case,” says Shyamaprasad, announcing that the third and the final film in the series that will be released on Friday.
The first two short films focused on violence against women and drug abuse among children.
The second, Online Predator, which went viral on social networking platforms due to the traps of social media, was presented by Ennu Ninte Moideen-fame actress Parvathi. “The third film in the series is Freedom from Fear, which talks of a more relevant issue — how society treats rape victims. Cyber prejudices and media celebration in fact traumatises the victims and crucifies them undeservingly,” explains Shyamaprasad. The third story is presented by actress Manju Warrier.
“In the series, we have also given instructions to help the victims. In Freedom from Fear, we have given awareness and support to those who are cornered by the media to come out of their fear,” adds Shyamaprasad.
“Being a media person, this is the least I can do,” admits the director. “I have tried a realistic approach by quoting experts and directing a story based on factual reports. For those who have been trapped, this film will be an answer on what help is available for them,” concludes Shyamaprasad.
The film will be launched on YouTube at IMA House at 6.30 pm.
