AMMA to talk with disgruntled actors
Kochi: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has decided to call actors Revathy, Padmapriya and Parvathy on August 7 to discuss the issues raised by them against the reinstatement of actor Dileep to its fold. The association had earlier promised talks with the members of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) on several issues.
It is learnt that actors Joy Mathew and Shammi Thilakan will also be called for talks on the same day. Joy Mathew earlier criticised the way in which AMMA was being functioned, while Shammi, son of late actor Thilakan, expressed his dislike over alleged mistreatment of his father by the organisation.
Meanwhile, AMMA has directed all its members not to issue any public statements and instead raise their issues only within the association, a circular to all its members said.
The issues started soon after AMMA reinstated actor Dileep, an accused in the actress-abduction and assault case, to its fold and since Mohanlal took over as AMMA president last month.
Earlier, four leading act-ors and members of Wom-en in Cinema Collective (WCC), including the victim, quit AMMA in protest against its decision. Revathy, Padmapriya and Parvathy had sought an emergency meeting with AMMA on this regard.
The circular said that AMMA has decided to appoint a media spokesperson unlike before, to get more reach and publicity on the activities they have been doing.
