No compromise on quality: Jyothikrishna
Those who have watched Dileep-starrer Life of Josutty might definitely have noticed the performance of Jyothikrishna as his onscreen wife Rose, an overpowering divorcee nurse settled in New Zealand. Her bipolar nature forms the crux of the events through which the movie progresses. The role had garnered Jyothi applauses from audience and film critics alike. Jyothi, who was not much active in movies after Life of Josutty, is all excited and busy these days for she is gearing up for her next flick Aami, one of the most-talked-about Malayalam films in recent times. Aami, according to Jyothi, is a dream project as this is her first movie with director Kamal and Manju Warrier. Despite the role being a small one, Jyothi is not bothered because she plays one of the major characters associated with Kamala Das.
Jyothi will be seen as Malathikuty, Kamala’s childhood friend. Explaining how she was roped in for the role, Jyothi says, “Kamal sir and my family have known each other for many years now. He had earlier approached me with a project, but it did not work out as I was busy with Life of Josutty. When he planned Aami, he told me that he would like me to do a character in the movie and I immediately said yes. My character was fixed even before Manju was roped in. Various stages of both the friends have been planned in the movie and I am really excited to work with Manju.”
Asked about the reason behind her break after Life of Josutty, Jyothi says that though she was approached by many directors, she was pretty much clear that she would only accept roles wherein she can exhibit her talent. “I believe that simply being part of the movie just because it is being released under a good banner and by a major director with superstars is worthless. As actors, quality of the role is what actually matters.” This is the reason why Jyothi also took up another job while she was away from films. She will also be presenting the second edition of Laughing Villa, the celebrity comedy chat show that will be aired on Surya TV from April 2.
