One of the much-discussed characters of superstar Mohanlal — Major Mahadevan — is gearing up for a comeback. The return will be with Major Ravi, who created the character for his first independent directorial venture — Keerthichakra — in 2005. The latest in the series is titled 1971 Beyond the Border. Kurukshethra and Kandahar were the previous films that had Mahadevan in the lead role. In Kurukshethra, Lal was seen as Colonel Mahadevan. Reportedly, the actor will join the sets of 1971 Beyond the Border on Monday.
The shooting of the film is progressing in Rajasthan. It is for the first time that Mohanlal enacts the same character in four films. He has earlier essayed the same role in three films of the Nadodikaattu series in which he appeared as Ramdas. Though there were reports that Ramdas would comeback, nothing has happened so far. Interestingly, megastar Mammootty has appeared as Sethurama Iyer in the four consecutive CBI films. Another interesting element of 1971 Beyond the Border is that Mohanlal will be doing double role in it — Major Mahadevan and another crucial character.
