Of course Guppy has brought a big change in my life as an actor. Though it was just one film which came to screens last year with me in the lead role, it brought me closer to the audiences.
It is true that the film got more viewers after the DVDs were out. But I am sad to say that the number of audiences at the theatres was very less. I am still getting messages from those who watched the film after it had left theatres. When the film got premiered on a TV channel, the number of messages increased. These messages give me confidence to do more good films. Along with that, many people who contacted me after watching Guppy have assured me that they will definitely watch my next film when it hits the screens.
Another change I witnessed was that many films were being promoted online, saying the fate of Guppy shouldn’t befall them. It was found as one of the main captions on the online, offline posters of many films released during that period. I am happy about such campaigns. I am a person who looks forward to see the success of all films. I like to hear good news about even the films charted to release along with mine.
I am not an actor who likes to do same kind of roles; you can see that in my selection of films. My appearance in Guppy cannot be compared to my next one Ezra, which will be completely different from Godha and Oru Mexican Aparatha.
Guppy is of course one of the majors breaks in my career as an actor which I started around three years back. It has helped me get many good comments. Along with that, I am getting many good offers post Guppy.
Rising star
An engineering graduate, he worked as a software engineer for a year before shifting to films. He appeared in a supporting role in Prabhuvinte Makkal, before joining as an assistant director with Roopesh Peethambaran in Theevram. It was in Dulquer Salmaan-starrer ABCD that he made his debut as actor. He had noticeable roles in Seventh Day and Ennu Ninte Moideen.
Guppy is his first one in a lead role.
