Kerala High Court Slaps The Kerala Story 2 Producer With Legal Notice
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the drama film is a sequel to the 2023 film The Kerala Story.

The Kerala High Court has issued an urgent notice to the producer of the film Kerala Story 2. The legal action follows a petition challenging the film's censor certification. The plea also objects to the use of the word Kerala in the movie title.
Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah must now respond to the court. The petitioner argues that the Bollywood film "portrays the state in a negative light". They claim the narrative could "harm public harmony and alienate people from the region".
Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan raised questions about the timing of the petition. The movie already had its theatrical release in February. Millions of people have already watched it. However, the advocate for the petitioner emphasized that the case remains relevant due to the film's upcoming digital and television release.
The CBFC questioned whether a private citizen can challenge a state's depiction in this manner. The court decided to rule on this matter during the final hearing. The movie previously faced an interim stay on its release, which a larger bench later overturned. The next steps will depend on the responses from the producers and the certification board.
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the drama film is a sequel to the 2023 film The Kerala Story. Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha headlined it.
