After the intense action drama Raayan, actor-turned-director Dhanush takes a refreshing detour into lighthearted romance with Jabilamma Neeku Antha Kopamama (Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam). While the story of young lovers breaking up and trying to reunite may seem familiar, Dhanush infuses it with charm, humor, and heartfelt emotions.
The film revolves around a simple yet engaging love story. Pavish and Anikha play a couple who fall madly in love but break up due to unforeseen circumstances. Enter Preethi (Priya Prakash Varrier), who meets Pavish through an arranged marriage setup. As they begin to bond over their shared past heartbreaks, Pavish unexpectedly decides to attend his ex-lover’s destination wedding in Goa, accompanied by his friend Mathew. The big question remains—will old feelings resurface, or will he embrace his new chapter with Preethi?
Young actor Pavish (Dhanush’s nephew) delivers an impressive performance, capturing the nuances of heartbreak and self-pity without losing his swagger. Anikha has a limited but crucial role, while Priya Prakash Varrier adds energy to the film, though her character lacks depth. Supporting actors Rabiya Khatoon, Ramya Ranganathan, and Sukanya fit their roles well, while Mathew Thomas stands out as the ever-supportive friend.
A romantic comedy thrives on music, and composer G.V. Prakash Kumar delivers a few foot-tapping numbers. Cinematographer Leon Britto enhances the film with a glossy, vibrant visual appeal.
Dhanush, who has portrayed love-stricken characters in 3 and Thiru Chitrambalam, crafts a similar narrative for his nephew, giving him a strong launchpad. Known for his versatility in films like Asuran and Raghuvaran B.Tech, Dhanush once again showcases his multifaceted talent, proving his mettle not just as an actor but as a director who can handle diverse genres with finesse.
